Here at PAINTALL LIMITED, we have been hand producing Linseed Oil Paints for over 30 years, creating bespoke recipes and colours for projects across the UK. Our Linseed Oil Paints are manufactured using carefully selected oils and pigments, produced with care and experience in our workshop.
From the very beginning, our focus has been on producing paints that are durable, breathable, and suited to both historic and modern buildings.
Linseed Oil Paint is a traditional paint that uses linseed oil as its main binder, with no acrylics, latex, polyurethane, or alkyds. It is naturally low in VOCs and is valued for its durability and compatibility with traditional surfaces.
Linseed oil is derived from the dried seeds of the flax plant. As a drying oil, it polymerises as it cures, forming a strong, protective finish that penetrates and nourishes surfaces rather than sitting on top.
Linseed Oil Paint is suitable for both internal and external applications. It performs particularly well on:
Windows and doors
Metal surfaces
Furniture and woodwork
Renders and brickwork
Outbuildings and timber
Interior & Exterior
Linseed Oil Paint offers a level of durability and performance that many modern paints cannot match. It creates a flexible, breathable finish that moves naturally with the substrate, reducing the risk of cracking and peeling over time.
Its natural composition and deep penetration make it especially suitable for traditional buildings and long-term protection.
We offer two types of Linseed Oil Paint to suit different finishes and requirements:
1. Pure Linseed Oil Paint: A traditional, solvent-free paint that provides a durable, natural gloss finish.
2. Linseed Oil Emulsion: A water-based emulsified linseed oil paint that delivers a hard-wearing, flat matt finish.

PAINTALL LIMITED offers a wide range of colours across our Linseed Oil Paints, including access to bespoke colour creation. Our colour recipes span decades of manufacture and include shades ranging from soft pastels and creams to deep terracottas, yellows, reds, and greens.
We use traditional and historic pigments such as red, yellow, and black iron oxides, raw and burnt umber, sienna, as well as selected modern pigments and stainers.
